Hello

My name is Diala Hillberg. I am so glad you are here...

I am a mother of 3 and have over a decade of experience in education.

I see every opportunity with students as a chance for growth and improvement. I lead with humility, and always strive to see the best in everyone. I focus on what each person has to offer and use their strengths to help pave the path for further growth.

My "Why"

I started anchored academics for my children and yours. With over fifteen years in education, ten of which were in public education, I've been in the trenches. I have had a first hand look into the public education system and after so many years, I knew it was time to walk away when it was not getting better for our students. During the pandemic, our students took a big hit - academically, emotionally, and socially.

Students are struggling, and with that, comes insecurities for the family and the student. Needs are increasing. Lifestyles are shifting.

This is where I come in. Whether you are in public, private, homeschooling or undecided, I’m here to help. With over a decade of teaching experience, masters in curriculum and instruction, as well as administration, I want to use my skill set to help you help your child succeed. If that need is one on one tutoring, if you’re looking for someone to teach your chosen curriculum, or maybe you need help picking and planning your curriculum and lesson plans...

I’m here to help you.

As a former teacher in the classroom and now homeschooling mom myself, I want to be a support to you and your family, wherever you are in your educational journey.

My Career Story

My educational career started in 2009 as a preschool team leader while working on my Bachelor of Arts. This time allowed me opportunities to work with teachers and coach them through effective classroom management strategies. As I worked through my credential, and took on leadership roles within my schools, I began to see the positive impact my coaching and guidance had on teachers and students. I see every opportunity with students and families as a chance for growth and improvement. I lead with humility, and always strive to see the best in every person. I focus on what each person has to offer and use their strengths to help pave the path for further growth.

In August 2018, as I worked through a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, I decided to pursue an administrative credential to further grow as a leader in my career. In 2020-2021, I completed the program and received my Administrative Certificate. My desire to help coach teachers and students at a higher level grew. My passion is to lead, educate and assist students into becoming well-rounded, driven, responsible, and successful individuals who contribute to society in a positive way. In the 2020-2021 school year, I had the honor of coaching a new teacher through the evaluation process, while providing feedback and strategies. I also took on the role of coaching and training teachers through the effective use of Canvas and educational strategies to help address learning loss through distance learning with CSUB. Through the school wide initiative I had the privilege of leading and implementing in 2020-2021 which focused on learning loss in mathematics, my school saw significant student gains. On a school wide average, student growth increased by 20% in math fact fluency. During this process, I was given multiple opportunities to present to a group, share data, seek input and implement strategies with my team.

My evolving educational philosophy is centered around foundational axioms such as collaboration, student safety, and respect. Relationships are at the center of everything I do and forging relationships with students is embedded in every aspect of what I do as a teacher and a leader. Through my experience as a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) Tier 1 and Tier 2 team member, I have seen the impact student relationships, positive behavior and school climate have on students and staff alike. My journey on the PBIS team began in 2018 as my school and district did not have an official behavior tracking system in place. During my time on the team, I helped lead the team in creating school wide norms, collected and analyzed data, created alternative activities for Tier 1 and Tier 2 students that kept them in the classrooms, led restorative circles, and created a school wide major/minor referral form. We have cultivated a positive culture where students feel welcomed and safe with a predictable and effective environment.

I have found my leadership strengths start with the mutual respect of students and colleagues. I pride myself on my ability to build strong relationships that are rooted in trust and intentionality. My leadership is defined by the success of my students. My leadership philosophy stems from different aspects and principles that build one main and consistently evolving way of thinking: keep excellence and growth at the forefront regardless of the current state.

Learning from others’ experiences and input through different situations has allowed for opportunities to increase my bank of knowledge. I have learned that everyone wants to be heard, and that everyone listens differently. I learned that it is important to stand up for what you believe is right and how to respectfully share those ideas in a way to be effectively heard.
